Public Praise

Last night, Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Utah Jazz and are now headed into the 2007 NBA Finals. One thing that I noticed is the shear emotion and energy of the fans in the stands. Many of the fans had on their favorite player's jersey, their face painted, or wore some whacky costume. At the end of the game, fans were crying, some rushed the basketball court, and there were fans who gave complete strangers a high five. The funny thing is that Spurs fans have experienced this all before - the Spurs are going on their 4th championship ring in the last 10 years.

Imagine this, the fans celebrated as if this was their first time to the big dance. We saw lawyers, CEO's, and normally soft spoken people doing a jig in the stands! I wish we praise God like that! In the same way these fans didn't mind being visibly excited and celebrative of their team, we should not be ashamed to look "silly" by praising God. For God gives us daily bread and new mercies day by day. He deserves our boisterous praise and them some!

It is true, one can be emotional and not spiritual; but you should know that you can't be really spiritual without showing some emotion. The reality is that biblical praise is ALWAYS external - it can be seen! You can meditate in your heart, but true praise will be seen.

The fact is I don't praise God to be seen, but I don't mind being seen praising God! Let your praise hang out!

B-Blessed!!!
