Public Praise

Last night, Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Utah Jazz and are now headed into the 2007 NBA Finals. One thing that I noticed is the shear emotion and energy of the fans in the stands. Many of the fans had on their favorite player's jersey, their face painted, or wore some whacky costume. At the end of the game, fans were crying, some rushed the basketball court, and there were fans who gave complete strangers a high five. The funny thing is that Spurs fans have experienced this all before - the Spurs are going on their 4th championship ring in the last 10 years.

Imagine this, the fans celebrated as if this was their first time to the big dance. We saw lawyers, CEO's, and normally soft spoken people doing a jig in the stands! I wish we praise God like that! In the same way these fans didn't mind being visibly excited and celebrative of their team, we should not be ashamed to look "silly" by praising God. For God gives us daily bread and new mercies day by day. He deserves our boisterous praise and them some!

It is true, one can be emotional and not spiritual; but you should know that you can't be really spiritual without showing some emotion. The reality is that biblical praise is ALWAYS external - it can be seen! You can meditate in your heart, but true praise will be seen.

The fact is I don't praise God to be seen, but I don't mind being seen praising God! Let your praise hang out!

B-Blessed!!!

True Fulfillment

I have a trusted friend who always prays the most simplest of prayers. He prays, "Less of me and more of Him."

John 4:31-35 declares, "In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, "Rabbi, eat." But He said to them, "I have food to eat of which you do not know." Therefore the disciples said to one another, "Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?" Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

So many times we are so consumed with our own desires, wishes, and ambitions that we never true fulfillment. True fulfillment can only be found in living out your intended purpose and that purpose can only be discovered in God. The more we get filled with His purposes, the less room we have for the meaningless and insignificant.

My desire is to please Him. I please Him whenever I stand before God's people and instill His hope and His instruction. I please God whenever I give good advice to the discouraged and pray for the brokenhearted. I please Him when I do His will.

You want to know wwhy I come back Sunday after Sunday or day after day? It is because preaching, pastoring, and serving God's people is to me what water is to fish. I can't live without fulfilling my God-given purpose. What are you eating?

B-Blessed!

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day, People of God! I pray that you have a blessed time spending time with family, eating BBQ and finishing up on those unfinished projects around the house. LOL!

Memorial Day is significant to us as a nation, because it is a special time that we set aside to honor all of the brave men and women in the United State Armed Forces who give their life for the protection of our nation. No matter how you feel about the political ramifications of our current conflict in Iraq, our brave soldiers deserve our honor, respect, and support. Let's pray for their continued protection!

Memorial Day is also very significant to me personally, because it is one of several days throughout the year when I pause to reflect and remember all of the couragious men and women of God who have transitioned from this life to eternal reward. I am speaking of the countless Kingdom men and women, who impacted my life through their obedience to the voice of God.

Mark 14:3 - 8 recounts the story of a woman who anointed the head of Christ with some very costly and precious oil. With the exception of Christ, the people in the room were indignant and thought this woman's act was a waste of precious oil that could have been sold for a healthy sum of money. Christ rebukes their indignation and makes a very profound prediction in v. 9 - he said, "Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her."

Like this woman, I have several deceased relatives, friends, and people of faith whose stories are not told in scripture, but their testimonies are a memorial unto them and is a sweet smelling savor in the nostrols of God. They did very simple things in their lives that made a tremendous impact in my life and in the Kingdom. You may be able to relate to this as well. For you, perhaps it was a great-grandmother, grandmother, fellow church member, pastor, teacher, or someone that you can't even recall their name - but they made a definite impact on your life by encouraging you when you were down, correcting you when you were wrong, praying for you when you were living in sin, or letting you know that you could do anything in life if you kept God first.

Remember these soldiers who served in a heavenly army in the earth and are now worshipping the King of kings in a place where they will never grow old. B-Blessed!!!

Value Your Friends!

My grandfather once told me that I would be very blessed if I had 5 good friends in the span of a lifetime. At the time, I didn't really believe him. I was a teenager and I thought that if people were willing to hang out with me, then they must be my friend. I was terribly mistaken! The fact is that leeches love to hang around you, too........ as long as you have some blood that they can suck from you! Some people who appear to have your back really just hang around for their own benefit.

A profitable friend is one who enhances you... adds to your life.... and you look around and discover that your life is better and you are a better person because they are in your life. Proverbs 27:6 says "Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful." Your friends are not always the ones who sing your praises and pat you on the back; friends are those who tell you the truth about yourself at the risk of offending you. They are those who forsake your ill advised schemes and ventures in order to stand for what is right and godly.

Here is my challenge to you: Ask God to reveal to you your true friends. Then ask God to show you how to minister to them as they minister to you. Once you have these people identified, praise God for them and be sure to let them know just how much they mean to you.

I have a very short list of friends who challenge me, correct me, and ultimately love me...... my friends are my wife, my mentors, my mother, my grandparents, and some awesome supporters at KHC and all over the state and country who embrace me when I'm discouraged and cheer me on when I'm on the mountain top. I love you and I want you to know that you all have a special place in my heart and spirit. B-Blessed!

Hello, World!

God is so faithful! Just when you think you've reached the penacle of God's goodness, he blesses you yet again and absolutely blows your mind. My pledge is to live and do ministry in a way that pleases God and impacts lives. I praise God everyday for calling me when I was just as bad as some of my old friends who are dead, in jail, or living a meaningless life. The reality is that I could have been one of them.

Since God has bestowed His precious mercy and grace on our lives, we should each strive to put the anointing of God on each day so that we can live a life that is pleasing to Him. I'm blessed to be used by God! B-Blessed!
